The project «Mentoring» clears the way for students to the community of professionals

In February 2016, about 40 students from 6 regions of Kazakhstan set about their working practices in VTB Bank (Kazakhstan). Within the "Mentoring" program, the most talented graduates of financial universities will have the additional practical training and have the opportunity to become a part of the bank's staff.

In 2014, VTB Bank (Kazakhstan) introduced the "Mentoring" social project to the public for the first time. This unique system for university graduates not only clears the way to the community of professionals, but also gives the opportunity to get used to new adult life.

-Today, many students face the employment issues after graduation. The most Kazakhstani companies shut their doors on the graduates with the words “No experience – no work!” VTB Bank (Kazakhstan), as a socially responsible organization has developed its own approach to the problem - said Advisor to the Chairman of the Management Board of VTB Bank (Kazakhstan) Alla Ponomareva. – We offer the free of charge practical training for bank employee skills and probation for graduates. After the successful completion of the training, the best students can be enrolled in the Bank.

The "Mentoring" program implementation is carried out in several steps. First, the graduates take a test. According to the test results, the most talented students are offered to take the training course, most closely resembling reality of banking routine. Then they have the common working practice based on «Banking management fundamentals» customized program and probation in their specialization. For the period of working practices, each graduate has a mentor from among the bank employees that estimates the success of a recruit. Upon the successful completion of the program, the trainee shall be added to the Bank staff, or receives the reference letter and experience which will help to much easier find a job in the financial sector.

During the period of "Mentoring" program, about 500 people took the test. In 2015, 50 of them were employed in VTB Bank (Kazakhstan). The bank plans to annually expand the territory of program implementation and university coverage.

In the last year, the "Mentoring" project was nominated for the independent annual award «HR-brand of Kazakhstan", awarded for the most successful work in the field of personnel management.
