The skating-rink was presented in Almaty in Ledovaya Arena (Ice Arena) sports complex

Construction of this sports facility is carried out at the expense of the state financing and with the financial support of VTB Bank (Kazakhstan). Akim of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek took part in the opening of the skating-rink.

The construction of Ledovaya Arena sports complex with the skating rink in the Medeusky district in Almaty started on May 2014. This facility is one of the key sites of the World Winter Universiade 2017; the built-up area will occupy 16.942 thousand square meters. The facility consists of skating-rink for 327 spectators and the ice arena for 3 463 spectators connected by a passageway.

We are very pleased that we have participated in the construction of the most important object of the Universiade, which in the future will allow us to conduct international competitions and cultural-mass events at the highest level. We believe that, in addition to the title of the key object of the student games, the complex will become one of the most favorite places for recreation and sports activities for the residents and guests of the southern capital city, Asem Kenzhebek, Management Board Member, Head of the Corporate Business of VTB Bank (Kazakhstan) said.

The representatives of BAUR Kazakhstan holding, which includes the company Aria-Zhana Astana LLP, which is the general contractor for construction of Ledovaya Arena, told about the features of the new complex.

- The facility is really large-scale, its total area will be 67 476.9 square meters. The sports complex will provide an opportunity to conduct large-scale concerts; the modern solutions for sound and light are envisaged. The facilities are perfectly designed for holding conferences, forums and exhibitions at various levels with equipped meeting rooms, rooms for negotiations, etc., Bakyt Kabenov Amanzholovich, the President of Kazakhstan BAUR says.

According to the builders’ plans the object will be commissioned in full in August 2016.
