Internal Audit
The Internal Audit Function of Subsidiary JSC VTB Bank (Kazakhstan) (hereinafter referred to as the “IAF”) is an independent structural unit of the Bank that conducts an objective assessment of the effectiveness of the internal control system, risk management, and corporate governance.
The IAF’s activities are aimed at assisting the Bank’s Board of Directors and Management Board in ensuring the Bank’s sustainable and effective operation, protecting its assets, and complying with the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the internal regulations of the Bank and VTB Group.
The primary objective and responsibilities of the IAF are to provide independent and objective assurance,
and advisory support to improve the Bank’s operations and
enhance the effectiveness of internal control, risk management, and corporate governance processes.
The IAF’s independence is ensured by its direct accountability to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors’ Audit Committee oversees and coordinates the IAF activities.
In its work, the IAF is guided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Bank’s Charter, the internal regulatory documents of the Bank and VTB Group, as well as International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and international best practices in the profession.
In 2026, the IAF successfully passed an independent external quality assessment conducted by the international audit firm Russell Bedford A+ Partners. Based on the assessment results, the IAF achieved the highest level of conformance to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. These results confirm the high level of the internal audit organization within the Bank, its compliance with international professional standards, and its commitment to the principles of effective corporate governance.
